🌿 Rooted in Purpose
We didn’t start Sayward Haven Farm because we needed a hobby.

We started it because we believe food matters.

We believe food is medicine.
We believe healthy soil builds healthy plants.
We believe communities thrive when they can feed themselves.

And we believe small farms can make a real difference.
🌱 Why We Farm
Tracey has been growing food for over 35 years. Long before the farm existed, she was planting seeds, studying soil, and learning how to nourish her family through whole, plant-based food.
As a vegan and lifelong grower, she believes:

-
Food security starts at the backyard level.
-
Strong communities are built around local food.
-
Healthy soil protects our environment.
-
Growing in harmony with our microclimate matters.
-
Prevention through nutrition is more powerful than cure.
Sayward Haven Farm is an expression of those values.
🌾 Farming with Intention
On our 1/3 acre farm in Cobble Hill, we grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and plant starts using natural growing practices — without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.
We focus on:
-
Soil health
-
Biodiversity
-
Supporting pollinators
-
Adapting to our coastal microclimate
-
Low-till methods that protect the living soil
Because when the soil thrives, everything thrives.

Meet Farmer Tracey
Retired banking executive turned full-time grower.
Tracey manages propagation, seed selection, planting, harvesting, and the farm stand. Starting plants from seed is her favourite part of the season — watching life emerge and knowing those plants will feed other families.
Tracey also loves knitting, cooking, baking and preserving home grown food.

Her deepest passion? Helping people feel empowered to grow their own food.

Meet Farmer Don
Retired mechanical engineer and the farm’s infrastructure genius.

Don manages soil systems, irrigation, infrastructure, and makes sure everything works — from tunnels to harvest bins. His favourite event is Gingerpalooza each September when fresh ginger comes out of the ground.
Don's deepest passion? For our community to eat nutrient dense produce to improve their health.
