Open-pollinated jalapeño.
Cylindrical fruits are of the smaller traditional size (2-2 1/2") and have more checking than our hybrids. Early producers on small, compact plants. Best for early season plantings for an early crop.
Scoville heat units (SHU): 2,500 – 8,000
Peppers like it hot, especially hot peppers. Grow in a very warm area in your garden where they will get full sun and have some wind protection.
Ensure your soil is rich in phosphorus and calcium. You may want to add lime and compost to the bed first and let it settle in. Peppers like soil that is moist but well draining. Five gallon containers also work well, but require good Some people like to pinch their peppers but we find that in our short growing area it is not a benefit. While peppers enjoy heat, provide some shade in extreme heat.

Peppers can be picked when green and firm but will sweeten as they ripen. Pick the time it tastes best for you. Pick often to encourage continued production. You may need to stake for some support if plant grows vigorously.
